Welcome

The purpose of this blog is to communicate with friends about investing and perhaps make new friends who are interested in same. One element of this blog will entail reporting to readers my own model investment results in hopes of receiving constructive feedback and generating improved results for all. I established my model portfolio 9/4/09 with a hypothetical portfolio of ~$768K consisting of 665 stocks, the performance of which are tracked on https://www.folioinvesting.com/. Future posts will elaborate on my investing philosophy and processes that were used to generate this particular portfolio. Due to folioinvesting's platform, you don't need a large amount of savings in order to invest in a large number of individual stocks. So far the performance of the model portfolio is exceeding the benchmark I've chosen, which is Fidelity's Worldwide mutual fund (ticker: fwwfx), by 2.92% (12.56% vs 9.64%). The next post will address why I believe this to be an appropriate benchmark and analyze the model portfolio performance in more depth.
